GTHA Fundraising Policy

The Grand Traverse Hockey Association (GTHA) is a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation. As such, there are State and Federal rules that apply to our fundraising. GTHA recognizes that individual teams may wish to raise funds on their own. GTHA encourages this, so long as any team fundraiser does not interfere or overlap with an existing association effort or an exclusive partnership with Centre Ice (for example hotel partnerships). General Policies All fundraisers must have approval from the Fundraising Chair/Committee prior to beginning the program. Fundraisers will not be hindered in any way if they don’t break the law (example: you need a raffle license to run a raffle) or violate partnerships we have as an association (i.e. hotel sponsorships). If your fundraiser meets the criteria, then your program will be approved. All money raised by the fundraiser will be deposited into GTHA and allocated to the appropriate player(s). Teams may not mandate that players and families participate in fundraising. The team may set a per player fundraising goal, but it may not require a player who does not meet that goal to make up the difference. All funds raised and expenses incurred are allocated on a per player basis (not per family). All funds not used by May 1 will be donated to the Association. Funds can only be used towards budgeted team fees.

Fundraiser Request Form

Please fill out this form to request approval for any planned fundraisers. Fundraising includes any activity or event that asks for money or goods. Please complete and submit this form to the GTHA fundraising committee for approval. A response will be provided no longer than 1-week after receipt. Do not finalize any dates or purchase any goods required for your activity or event PRIOR to approval.
